What does an executor do?

  1. Upon your passing, the executor of your choice will first have to locate your Will.
  2. After that, he/she needs to seek assistance from a lawyer to apply for a grant of probate at the High Court.
  3. Your executor will be able to manage your assets upon obtaining the grant of probate.
  4. Once your assets have been administered, your executor will then have the duty to call in your assets and pay off your liabilities (if any).
  5. Lastly, the executor will distribute your assets to your beneficiaries in accordance with your Will.
