KOHA ISLAMIC DIGITAL WINS MIFC GLOBAL IMPACT CHALLENGE 2025 ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME

Malaysian Shariah-Compliant Wealthtech Platform Selected for Innovative Digital Estate Planning Solution

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 13 October, 2025 – Koha Islamic Digital, a pioneering Shariah-compliant wealthtech platform, has been announced as a winner of the prestigious MIFC Global Impact Challenge 2025 Accelerator Programme. The company was selected from a competitive field of global applicants for its innovative approach to addressing Malaysia’s inheritance crisis through accessible digital estate planning solutions.

Co-organised by Bank Negara Malaysia and the MIFC Leadership Council, the Global Impact Challenge recognises bold, values-based innovations that drive meaningful impact across the Islamic finance ecosystem. Koha Islamic Digital competed in Track 1: Advancing Economic Empowerment and Social Sustainability, demonstrating how technology can transform a critical social challenge affecting 85% of Malaysian Muslim families.

Addressing a Critical Challenge

Malaysia faces a severe estate planning crisis, with an estimated 85% of Malaysians dying without proper estate planning. This leaves families trapped in legal battles lasting up to five years while critical funds remain inaccessible—with RM100 billion currently frozen in assets nationwide. Behind every frozen account is a widow who can’t pay bills and children forced into courtroom disputes over their inheritance.

Koha Islamic Digital addresses this challenge through a comprehensive digital platform that integrates Wasiat creation, Hibah structuring, automated Faraid calculation, and Takaful protection into one seamless 30-minute experience. The platform’s unique approach goes beyond document creation—legacy planners work with families to provide immediate financial protection through Takaful solutions while ensuring long-term wealth transfer according to Shariah principles.

Shariah Excellence and Strategic Impact

“We’re honoured to be recognised by Bank Negara Malaysia and the MIFC Leadership Council for our work in solving one of the Islamic finance sector’s most pressing challenges,” said Peter Cheong, Co-Founder and CEO of Koha Digital. “This isn’t just about frozen assets—it’s about protecting families, preserving legacies, and ensuring that wealth flows according to Islamic principles. The MIFC Global Impact Challenge validates our mission to make Shariah-compliant estate planning accessible to every Muslim family.”

Koha Islamic Digital’s solution aligns directly with Maqasid al-Shariah (the objectives of Islamic law) by fulfilling religious duty through Faraid compliance, protecting life through financial security, preserving knowledge through trusted advisory, and maintaining family harmony through clear documentation. The platform is Shariah-certifiedShariah-certified, providing partners and customers with the highest level of assurance.

The company has secured a transformative partnership with the Malaysian Takaful AssociationMalaysian Takaful Association, providing distribution and effectively reaching Malaysia’s entire Islamic Takaful industry infrastructure.

Future Plans

The prize funding will be deployed toward talent recruitment, business development, and product enhancement as Koha Islamic Digital continues to scale its impact across Southeast Asia’s Muslim communities.

“We’re not just solving pain points—we’re changing the game for a more secure future,” added Cheong. “With the support of Bank Negara Malaysia, the MIFC Leadership Council, and our strategic partners, we’re taking Malaysia’s inheritance planning to the next level. Our goal is simple: ensure that with just one click, the next generation gains both knowledge and rightful access to their inheritance.”
