Project Descriptions
Charis Mantin Welfare Institution (In Malay: Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amal Charis Mantin Negeri Sembilan (Registration No. PPM-004-05-16102013)) is a non-profit organisation registered with the government (ROS) and is licensed under the Department of Social Welfare of Malaysia to operate the Charis Old Folks Home (In Malay: Pusat Jagaan Kebajikan Warga Emas Charis (License No. N/PJB WT 07/2022)). We have further received tax deduction approval from the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia in September 2019 and as a result, donors may enjoy tax deductions for donations made to our organisation (Ref. No. LHDN.01/35/42/51/179-6.8488).
Since 1998, we have been engaged in caring for the elderly in Hulu Langat, Cheras and later relocated to Mantin in 2013 to further our work. We are committed to providing free services to impoverished elderly individuals, including medical care, balanced meals, personal counselling, comfortable accommodation and burial services.
Subsequently, in 2014, we established the Charis Love U Children Centre (Companionship Reading Class) to provide free academic tutoring and balanced meals to economically disadvantaged and single-parent children after school from Monday to Friday, helping them establish a regular daily routine.
Currently, both the elderly home and the children center operate through rental arrangements. In order to plan for the long term, to enable the organization to overcome the frequent relocation issues, and to save and integrate resources for the benefit of more elderly and vulnerable children, we purchased a piece of land in Taman Bukit Belian, Mantin in 2019, measuring approximately 13,207 square feet. Construct a two-and-a-half-story building on the this land to provide comprehensive facilities for the elderly and children, creating a spacious and conducive living environment. We also plan to open the venue in our new building for elderly individuals to engage in board games and leisure activities. Additionally, we will provide fitness equipment free of charge for stroke recovery patients undergoing rehabilitation. Furthermore, our future services will extend beyond tutoring classes for children from single-parent backgrounds. We aim to include children without nationality, from single-parent families, and those who have been abandoned.
We sincerely thank all the kind-hearted individuals from various sectors for their continuous support and trust. We have collectively raised 1.9 million Malaysian Ringgit for construction costs. Currently, the project is progressing in an orderly and efficient manner, but the total estimated cost is 3 million Malaysian Ringgit. We still need to raise 1.1 million Malaysian Ringgit to fulfil this significant mission.
Due to the significant financial requirements, we earnestly invite you to generously contribute and actively participate in creating a safe, suitable, and permanent home for the vulnerable groups in our community. This ensures they receive the care and support they deserve. This project is not just a building but a loving home, providing shelter for 40 elderly and 20 children.
Since 1998, our institution has cared for over 100 elderly individuals. Due to limited bed capacity, we can currently accommodate only 25 elderly residents. Additionally, we have provided services to 49 children, with ongoing care for 10 children.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Every donation you make is crucial to us, and we sincerely appreciate your care and support for the elderly and children.
We look forward to partnering with you to give back to society and bring more care and support to vulnerable groups.
